A PHANTOM QUARTZ is when a separate shape - called a "phantom" - is noticeable in the interior of the crystal. These "phantoms" are most often comprised of another mineral, but can also be a lighter or darker shade of its own mineral.
A “Phantom” develops when the growing environment of the crystal changes, causing a colour or another visible shift in the crystal. The Quartz Crystal then resumes its crystallization capturing the Phantom Crystal within.
