FLOURITE is a relatively soft stone, which occurs in a variety of colours, like green, blue, purple, pink, yellow, a mixture of colours, or simply no colour at all. The name of the gem comes from the Latin word for “to flow” (fluere), because it melts easily. Fluorite is used in the manufacture of steel and hydrofluoric acid.
This gem can be found in China, Canada, Mexico, England and the American states of Colorado, Kentucky and Illinois.
