AMBER is an organic gem, like coral and pearls, and it consists of several million years old fossilized tree sap. Amber has a nice, orange and gold like colour, sometimes containing small insects and other things that have ended up there, when the tree sap was fresh, and have been preserved that way. This gem was very appreciated among the ancient people of the world, like the Greeks, Egyptians, Phoenicians, and amber artefacts dated back to the Stone Age have been found in Denmark.
Amber can nowadays be found primarily in the Baltic States, where the largest mine lies in Russia. Other places where amber is found are Canada, Mexico, Sicily, Germany and Romania.
